Corporate and executive travel

Business itineraries, corporate accounts, roadshows, and the executive transfer at either end of them. Built around the fact that the nearest commercial runway is in another state.

Amtrak’s Pere Marquette line stops at the St. Joseph–Benton Harbor station. It runs one round trip a day: out in the morning, back at night. Anything that finishes in Chicago at four in the afternoon has no train.

So the axis is a road. Downtown Chicago is 96 miles, about 1 hour 40 minutes. Chicago O’Hare (ORD) is 113 miles, about 2 hours 20 minutes. Typical, without traffic. Those two numbers set every pickup time we quote, and the pickup time is most of the job.

LECO Corporation keeps its world headquarters in St. Joseph, and the company says it runs more than 25 offices worldwide. A structure like that produces a steady flow of inbound visitors, and most of them land at O’Hare because that is where the long-haul lift is. Then there are 113 miles left.

Whirlpool Corporation’s world headquarters is in adjacent Benton Harbor. Corewell Health runs a hospital here, and the Berrien County administration center and courthouse are in town. Between them they bring a lot of people into a county with no commercial airport of its own.

What that looks like in practice is a short list of recurring jobs, and we would rather name them than describe a philosophy. See private ground transport for how the driving side is booked.

What we handle

  • Multi-stop plant and facility visits
  • Roadshows run as one plan across several cities
  • Recurring executive shuttles on the St. Joseph–Chicago axis
  • Transfers for engineers and sales staff arriving from overseas
  • Board, investor, and recruiting-candidate movement

02

Luxury family travel

Resorts, cruises, multigenerational trips, and the school-break weeks that decide themselves months before anybody starts looking.

School-break weeks book first and release last. A February trip planned in January is a different trip from the same February planned in October, and the difference is not the price — it is which properties still have the room configuration a family of six actually needs.

We plan curated family vacations: resorts, cruises, multigenerational trips, and the school-break and holiday weeks around them. One planner holds the whole thing. Nothing is booked until the plan is in front of you in writing.

Multigenerational travel is the hard case, and it is worth being specific about why. Three households, three budgets, three tolerances for a 6 a.m. departure, and one itinerary that has to work for all of them. Somebody has to hold every version of that and answer the phone about it. That is the service.

Winter departures are part of this too — the warm weeks in January and February, and the holiday travel stacked either side of them. We plan the outbound trip and, where you want it, the car that starts it.

The family trip usually begins with an early departure out of O’Hare, which is 113 miles and about 2 hours 20 minutes away, typical and without traffic. That means a car in the driveway before dawn. See private ground transport.

What we handle

  • Resorts, from a single week to a multi-stop route
  • Cruises, with the ground legs at both ends planned as part of it
  • Multigenerational trips across separate households
  • School-break, spring-break, and holiday weeks
  • The pre-dawn car to ORD, MDW, SBN, or AZO at the start of it
Departure airports
South Bend (SBN), Kalamazoo (AZO), Chicago Midway (MDW), and Chicago O’Hare (ORD). Drive times are in the table under ground transport.
Point of contact
One planner for the whole trip, including the parts that move after it is booked.
Who it is for
Households planning one significant trip a year, and families coordinating a trip across three of them.

Private ground transport and chauffeur

Black-car airport runs, event and wedding transport, wine-country afternoons, and hourly service where the car stays with you for the block.

Every run here is quoted against a flight, not against a pickup time. You give us the flight; we work backwards through the drive, the airport, the hour, and the season, and the pickup time falls out of that. It is the only method that survives a February morning.

One-way transfers, round trips, and hourly as-directed work are each a booking in their own right. You do not have to be planning a trip with us to book a car, and a trip we plan does not have to include one.

Airports
South Bend (SBN), Kalamazoo (AZO), Chicago Midway (MDW), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), and Southwest Michigan Regional (BEH).
Rail
Amtrak Pere Marquette, St. Joseph–Benton Harbor station (SJM).
Booking types
One way, round trip, and hourly as-directed.
Who it is for
Anyone whose flight leaves before the sun does, and anyone who needs the same car all day.

Airport transfers

Four commercial airports serve this corner of Michigan and none of them is in it. These are the numbers we quote against.

Typical drive times from Saint Joseph, Michigan. Without traffic; we plan to the flight, not to the average.
Destination Distance Typical drive
South Bend International (SBN)34 mi48 min
Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International (AZO)51 mi57 min
Chicago Midway (MDW)95 mi2 hr
Chicago O’Hare (ORD)113 mi2 hr 20 min
Downtown Chicago96 mi1 hr 40 min

Times are typical and without traffic.

Private aircraft at Southwest Michigan Regional (BEH)

BEH is in Benton Harbor, across the river from St. Joseph. It is a general aviation field with a main runway just over 6,000 feet: no scheduled airline traffic to queue behind, and no terminal to walk the length of. For a private arrival, send the tail number and the estimated time on the ground.

Amtrak SJM and the Chicago run

The Pere Marquette line stops at the St. Joseph–Benton Harbor station, code SJM. One round trip a day: out in the morning, back at night. That covers a full day in the city and nothing else. By road, downtown Chicago is 96 miles and about 1 hour 40 minutes, typical and without traffic.

Event and wedding transport

Guest shuttles between the venue and the hotels, a rehearsal-dinner run out and back, ceremony-day transfers, and the late return that decides whether anybody drives. Scheduled as one block rather than as a string of separate cars. The detail is under groups, weddings, and events.

Lake Michigan Shore wine country

The Lake Michigan Shore AVA begins at the edge of town, its tasting rooms scattered a short drive inland. The point of a driver is not the car. It is that nobody at the table has to be the one who stays sober, and the afternoon can run long without anyone watching a clock.

Hourly, as-directed

The car and the driver are held for the block. The itinerary can change at two in the afternoon and nothing is re-quoted. It is the right booking for a day of meetings across two states, and for a Notre Dame night kickoff that empties a stadium of more than 77,000 onto the road at once.

Vehicle types and the hourly minimum go here. Until the owner supplies both, every quote says only that the vehicle is confirmed in writing before the pickup day, and this site names no makes, models, or seat counts.

Three answers go here: where the driver meets an arriving passenger, whether child seats can be fitted and with how much notice, and whether late-night and overnight pickups are available.

Same-day

If the pickup is soon, call rather than write. A form is the right tool for next month and the wrong one for tomorrow morning.

Groups, weddings, and events

Destination weddings, honeymoons, group blocks, corporate retreats, and the shuttle schedule that a waterfront wedding actually runs on.

The Inn at Harbor Shores sits on the St. Joseph River harbor in Benton Harbor — a waterfront property whose ballroom takes weddings of a few hundred guests, with far fewer rooms than that under its own roof.

That gap is the whole brief. A wedding of several hundred at a property that sleeps a fraction of them moves most of its guest list at least three times: rehearsal dinner, ceremony day, and last call. That is a shuttle schedule, not a car, and it is built backwards from the ceremony time the same way an airport run is built backwards from a flight.

Harbor Shores itself is a Jack Nicklaus Signature course in Benton Harbor, and it hosted the Senior PGA Championship six times between 2012 and 2024. A golf weekend has the same transport shape as a wedding: arrivals spread across two days and four airports, then one tee time everybody has to make.

A corporate retreat or an offsite is the same logic with a different guest list. Arrivals land at four airports and sometimes at Southwest Michigan Regional, and the people who have to be in the room at nine have to leave for it at a time somebody worked out in advance.

Destination weddings and honeymoons are planning work rather than driving work — flights, the property, and the ground legs at the far end. It is a different service from the shuttle schedule above, so say which one you want when you write to us. Both are quoted from the same form.

The service ladder

  • Guest shuttles between the venue and off-site lodging
  • A rehearsal-dinner run, out and back
  • Ceremony-day transfers for the wedding party and family
  • Late returns after the last call
  • Airport transfers for guests arriving at ORD, MDW, or SBN
  • Corporate retreats and offsites on the same shuttle logic
Two services
Local group transport is one thing. Destination weddings and honeymoons are travel planning. Say which you want.
Guest arrivals
SBN at 48 min, AZO at 57 min, MDW at 2 hr, ORD at 2 hr 20 min. Typical, without traffic.
Who it is for
Couples and planners working a waterfront wedding, and companies moving thirty people who all have to be in one room.

Coverage

Where we operate

We are based in Saint Joseph, on the Lake Michigan shore in Berrien County. Most of our work happens inside a ninety-mile arc of that, and the arc is drawn by the airports rather than by a county line.

Harbor Country — New Buffalo, Union Pier, Lakeside, Harbert, Sawyer, Three Oaks, Grand Beach, and Michiana — is the stretch of shore closest to Chicago. Along that corridor the recurring job is the Friday-evening pickup and the Sunday return, week after week, through the season.

Chicago, Kalamazoo, and South Bend are reach rather than coverage. They are places we take you and collect you from; they are not places we are based, and we would rather be clear about the difference than let a town list imply otherwise.

There is deliberately no separate landing page for each of these towns. Eight near-identical pages would be a doorway scheme, and it would be treated as one.

Before you write

What we need to quote you

Six things. With all six we can usually come back with a plan rather than with questions.

  • Dates and times, including the flight time you are working back from
  • Party size, and how many of those are children
  • The pickup point — the address, not the town
  • The airport and flight number, or the destination
  • One way, round trip, or hourly as-directed
  • Luggage, and anything oversized: golf clubs, skis, a stroller, a car seat

We do not publish rates. A run to O’Hare at 4 a.m. on a Sunday in February is not the same job as a run to South Bend at noon, and a number that ignores that is a number we would have to revise. You get a written quote for the trip you are actually taking.

Booking questions

Questions worth asking first

Answers are in the page whether or not JavaScript runs, and the structured data on this page matches them word for word.

It depends which service line you need. A single airport transfer takes the shortest notice. A group shuttle or a wedding needs a schedule built around the venue, and a planned trip or a cruise is limited by what is still available on your dates. Send the dates as soon as you have them. If we cannot cover one, we will say so in the first reply.

Give us the flight number when you book, not just the landing time. A flight number is what lets a pickup move with the aircraft instead of against it. If an inbound slips or a connection breaks, the ground plan is adjusted and the new time confirmed back to you, rather than left to you to sort out from the jet bridge. The longer answer is on the about page.

What happens when a flight is late

Changes are ordinary, and we would rather hear about one early than at the curb. Call or email the same person who confirmed the booking. Cancellation terms differ between a single transfer and a group schedule, because the second one holds vehicles and drivers against a fixed date. Whatever applies to your booking is set out in the written confirmation before you accept it.

Say so in the quote request: how many seats, and the age and weight of each child. Do not assume one is in the car. Whether a seat can be fitted for your booking is confirmed in writing before you accept the quote, so nobody finds out the answer at five in the morning with a flight to catch.

There is no checkout on this website and no card form anywhere on it. Payment terms are stated in the written quote, alongside the vehicle, the times and the route, and you accept the whole document or none of it. If a booking needs a deposit to hold a date, that is stated in the same place.

We do not print an after-hours number here, because a number nobody answers at two in the morning is worse than no number at all. If your trip involves a late arrival, an overnight, or a pre-dawn departure, say so in the quote request. Who to call on the day, and how, is part of what we confirm in writing.

No. Plenty of what we do is one or the other. An airport transfer is a booking in its own right, whether one way, round trip, or a car held for a block of hours, and a trip we plan does not have to include our vehicle at either end. Tell us which parts you want and we will quote those parts.
